Spring Updates

It's been a lovely spring here in Florida. Lots of fun things happening around here lately...

The boys started tball/baseball. Considering neither of their parents have any baseball knowledge (much to my parents' dismay because they love baseball), they are doing alright! Tball is especially entertaining to watch. Some highlights of the season so far:

1. A child on Thomas' team hit the ball, but instead of running to 1st base, then ran to pick it up and hand it to the other team when he saw they were having trouble getting it.

2. Thomas going to the wrong dugout and not noticing or being noticed for a few minutes until a sweet friend on his team noticed he was missing.

3. Thomas tackling his teammates on several occasions for the ball. He doesn't quite understand field positions so he sprints across the field every time to try to get the ball. At least he hustles!

Russell is also enjoying playing baseball for the first time. He has learned a lot already!

We've had some up and down weather lately, some days are extremely hot and then it'll cool down for a few days. We did make it to the neighborhood splash pad at the end of February on a particularly warm day, which does feel so strange since we've spent the last few Februarys buried in snow.

 Blocking out the sun:

Some pool time on warm days too:

Dr. Seuss week! We love Dr. Seuss and I had to dig up this picture of Russell when he made a very similar hat when he was in preschool.

Ricardo's mom has a great garden and is always giving us great produce. These 2 tomato monsters especially enjoying picking little cherry tomatoes.

Other fun times on the farm:

The kids had a day off school one week so we enjoyed a beautiful day at the park with cousins. The kids loved climbing on these dinosaur bones.

They love this spin art my mom got them:

We had spring break in March and had a great week! I worked Monday/Tuesday so the kids enjoyed hanging out with their fun babysitter while I was gone. On Wednesday, we enjoyed a fun visit from our good friends from Jacksonville. These kids all get along so well and had a blast spending St. Patrick's Day together! We first enjoyed exploring this fun state park where the kids could climb on these amazing tree roots. After lunch/playing at home, we headed to the pool and soaked up the sun for a few hours. So fun for us all to catch up and spend time together.

On Thursday, we drove down to Orlando for a surprise visit to Disney World! The kids thought we were just going to my parents' house, which they were actually thrilled about since we haven't been for a while. Now that my parents are vaccinated and Ricardo and I are too, we are so excited to see them more. Anyway, we pulled up to Magic Kingdom and the kids asked if we were going to go to a restaurant at Disney World. They were very surprised to find out we were actually going to visit Disney itself! We spent a day at Magic Kingdom and a day at Animal Kingdom and it was lots of fun. We got a FL resident 4 day pass so we'll be back soon for more Disney, but it is super nice to live close by and not have to exhaust ourselves too much by going for 4 days in a row! It was definitely a different experience to go now. We missed the characters, shows, parades, etc that aren't happening now, but luckily our kids don't really know what to expect, so they thought it was wonderful! Caroline is very much into Disney princesses and Minnie Mouse so it was so cute to see her reactions to various rides and we did get a few sightings of Minnie Mouse from a distance!

Love the Animal Kingdom safari. We saw so many animals and they loved that.

Russell is not a big thrill seeker and doesn't love roller coasters or big rides, but I did talk him into going on the new-ish Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom. He loved it and it was fun to see him get excited about something a little scary, because he never does!

Last week we were able to do some strawberry picking! Picking fruit with the kids is such an ingrained tradition after living in Yakima, so we have been looking forward to the u-picks opening around here. We went twice, once with friends and once with my parents. We have a freezer full of strawberries! Looking forward to blueberry season soon.

Russell hasn't had his hair cut since before covid! He finally decided to chop it off.

At first, he wasn't sure what to think but I think he likes it now. I think it makes him look younger, which I'm fine with since he's always growing up too fast!

We had a great Easter weekend. The kids enjoyed all the usual festivities.

Stories with Dad:

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter too!
