Happy Holidays!

Happy New Year! I'm playing catch-up (with everything in life!) now that the holidays are over. Hard to believe I've been blogging for 10 years! I'm glad I've kept up with it semi-regularly. It's been fun to look back on the major highlights in our life and my favorite pictures over the years. Here are my photos from my very first post:

These nephews are now teenagers!

And now fast-forwarding 10 years...Here's Caroline enjoying the park before the cold weather set in.

She loves climbing and standing on chairs. I'm trying in vain to nix this habit.

Bedtime antics.

Russell had a cute Thanksgiving performance that we were able to attend. Caroline sat for about half of it before she lost interest. It was fun to hear Russell practicing his songs for weeks leading up to it.

Fall family photo time! Included lots of bribery with Halloween candy and fruit snacks for Caroline.

Real-life! She definitely prefers Russell because he's more gentle with her, but she does have a place in her heart for Thomas too.

Caroline was cute and went and sat right on this log because the boys did.

We drove to Utah for Thanksgiving! We had a great time visiting many great friends and family members. It's always a busy trip to Utah because there are so many great people who live there! We didn't catch everyone and we didn't take many photos of our get-togethers, but we definitely appreciate everyone who hosted us, fed us, and hung out with us! We also visited BYU, my alma mater, which is always fun for me. We took the boys to the small paleontology museum they have on campus and they loved it. Free admission=we all loved it!

It snowed a ton while we were there! Luckily our drive home wasn't too terrible. The kids were excited for their first snow of the year. Russell loves snow and is sad about not having winter in Florida and wants me to bring him back to Utah next Christmas since they get a lot of snow.

Caroline is more photogenic than me! I'm squinting like this in every photo we took!

My parents flew out from Florida to have Thanksgiving with us. Thomas loves my dad and it was lots of fun to have them there with us!

Caroline has a cousin 2 months older (my sister's baby) and it was fun watching them together.

We attended an 85th birthday celebration for my Grandma/family Christmas party while we were there. My cute aunt dresses up as Mrs. Santa every year and gives out gifts.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's bachelor pad and it was great.

Making playdough turkeys while waiting on the real turkey.

Boy time watching Toy Story.

Thomas loves his little cousin.

Cuddling with my grandma, his great-grandma.

We got together with an old high school friend of mine and I loved how the kids all instantly became friends. We got ice cream and there were no chairs so they just sat on the floor telling each other jokes. Even Caroline wanted to be part of the fun.

It was a great trip and we made it back just in time to get a Christmas tree and get ready for Christmas. The boys were sniffing this piece of our tree's trunk all the way home.

We enjoyed a local lighted Christmas parade with friends. Lots of fun!

We also enjoyed a repeat event from last year-a lego Christmas event which was full of fun activities for our lego-loving boys.

Santa was there!

We also met another Mrs. Santa at a different Christmas party/crafting event for kids. My boys noticed that she looked a little different from when they met her in Utah (they didn't realize it was my aunt there), but it didn't seem to bother them too much.

Ricardo and I work for the same clinic system so it was fun to attend our mutual Christmas party.

Russell had fun dressing up festively for his last week of school. He really wanted this photo of him delivering presents as Santa.

Thomas had a fun playdate with friends to decorate Christmas cookies.

We've had one snow day so far. A lot came down and then it was warm the next day and all melted. Thomas likes it this year!

The best photo I could get of them decorating their gingerbread house.

We had a fun Christmas Eve with some friends and played some of my family's traditional games and acted out the Nativity. Christmas Day was nice and relaxing. Caroline didn't really get the idea of opening presents at her birthday but she got the hang of it this time around.

Lego Central

We also had a little get-together for New Year's Eve and had fun playing games and hanging out with some of our friends.

We did a balloon drop at 9 which was perfect for these kids. Russell really wanted to stay up til midnight and see fireworks so we compromised and woke him up at 11:55 to do the official countdown and watch fireworks. He was really tired but happy he woke up.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2020!
