The kids and I took a trip in April to Philadelphia/Washington DC. My sister had a baby and a daughter who was getting baptized so I decided to go up for those events and then decided it would be fun to go visit some old Philly friends before more of them move away. It was definitely not carefree to travel solo with 2 little boys, but the trip was fun and worth all the effort.
They did great on the first travel day despite 2 planes and a long traffic-filled drive from the DC airport to Philly.
Philly was cold and rainy! We had to bring our winter gear and still were freezing! We drove by our old house and got together with some friends at the park. The kids still had fun despite the weather.
Then we headed downtown and enjoyed the "dinosaur museum." Here's all the boys digging for fossils.
We drove by the temple, I was too lazy to venture onto the temple grounds by myself with the 2 kids at that point. Russell wanted to know what it was gray and not white. He also noticed Philadelphia is a lot older and "rustier" than where we live. :)
Next we enjoyed dinner with a group of old friends. Miss these sweet ladies!
We spent the next day spending time with more old friends. These 2 are only 6 months apart, though you wouldn't guess it by the height difference!
Then we were off to my sister's house and met the new baby. Thomas adored his baby cousin and still talks about him a month later.
We enjoyed the weekend spending time with my sister's family and my parents, celebrating Taeyrn's baptism and Jameson's blessing. The weather was better and we spent a lot of time at Arlington's fabulous community parks.
Someone was quite sad to say goodbye to his new baby cousin. Hopefully he will be that sweet with his sister!
When we got home I printed off this photo of Thomas and his cousin to send to my grandma but once Thomas saw it he just wanted to keep it and carry it around. He is too funny.
Also loves his pet fish!
Not sleeping, just lounging around playing.
My sweet friend threw me a baby shower earlier this month since we'll be moving this summer before I have the baby. It was lots of fun and so thoughtful!
Russell turned 5! He wanted another party at the beach so that's what we did. I took almost no photos but to me that's the mark of a great time-no time for photos. Thanks to all who came and made his day special and to my parents who came up and helped us put on the party!
Preschool birthday celebration!
Thomas loved getting to be a big kid for a little while.
I had a great Mother's Day as usual, with dinner and a delicious cheesecake made by Ricardo. Russell made me some cute things at school.
Last week we had some Philly friends in town so we went down to Orlando and went to Dinosaur World with them. We had never been before but it was lots of fun, especially for dinosaur loving boys.
Short little Russell again :)
Today was the second to last day of preschool. We will really miss Russell's fabulous school and teachers. They had a water play day and Thomas and I got to go as well. Tomorrow is preschool graduation, then so hard to believe he's off to kindergarten!
