Happy Halloween! This week has been our first cold weather of the year, which is quite a drastic change since we were recently swimming at the beach! We had a great end to our summer/start of fall.
At the end of August we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary and my birthday. We took our anniversary trip in May but we did enjoy dinner/massages for our anniversary in August. I've got no photographic proof, but we had a great time!
Ricardo worked late on my actual birthday, but nice friends took me out to breakfast and went to the pool with us in the afternoon. The babies loved the balloons.
The weekend before my birthday Ricardo took us up to Jekyll Island GA and we went to a small water park they have there. It was perfect for our kids and the ages they're at. Russell's favorite was the lazy river and they both had fun on the kids' slides. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday!
Missed the memo on this photo, but Thomas looks cute so I kept it.
We spent part of our Labor Day weekend with Ricardo's family, celebrating the many summer birthdays in the family. I just love this photo of Thomas on the treadmill with his cousins.
We went to a friend's lake house on Labor Day and had fun boating. It was a lovely weekend and nice to be outside, especially since we ended up being stuck inside soon after for Hurricane Irma.
Wake surfing made us feel young :)
We decided to wait out Hurricane Irma at home and were fortunate to have no damage and not even lose power. Ricardo's office was out of power for a week so he had lots of unplanned time off, which he mostly spent clearing debris for other people. He took Russell to help one of the days.
In September I went on a girls trip to Seattle with several of my old college friends/roommates. We had a great time talking/laughing/eating/sightseeing around Seattle. Grateful to have such fun friends!
My other best friend from BYU lives in Oregon so I planned a 2-stop trip so I could hang out with her too. I had fun meeting her cute kids and reminiscing/catching up with Ashley and Lane. We did some shopping in Portland, for old times sake of course.
These two had fun hanging out with their dad and grandparents while I was gone, but were also excited to have me back!
This is Thomas' life..Russell liked pots and pans as a baby but Thomas is beyond obsessed. He is particular about which spoons he uses, always likes to find the correct top for each pot, and is now starting to try to cook actual food in his pretend kitchen on the floor. If I leave the pantry open he will open a box of pasta and pour it in one of his pots. If I'm smart and leave the pantry closed he will just go get a bunch of toy cars and pretend to cook those. Hopefully he will be a good cook someday.
There was a great project put on in Orlando by a nonprofit organization called Feeding Children Everywhere, that involved packing boxes of food for kids in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Kids were allowed to come with an adult so we left Thomas with my kind parents and took Russell. We were proud that he did well for almost the whole 2 hours of our time slot. He started losing interest around 1.5 hours, but stuck it out anyway. Glad he got the opportunity to serve and think about others.

He is loving preschool and starting to get used to going to school every day. They had a family spaghetti dinner night with a special guest. Russell loved seeing his teachers cooking us dinner!
Toys are not necessary for a good time! We save a lot of boxes around here.
Others we use to construct costumes of all kinds!
(This one's Buzz Lightyear)
Popsicle stick crafts with Dad.
My parents came up for a weekend and we visited a local fort/museum. Thomas is obsessed with my dad, which is fun for all.
We've had lots of fun pre-Halloween festivities. We had a playgroup lunch last week and enjoyed Halloween food/crafts/friends. I was proud of my mummy strawberries.
Oreo spiders didn't last long on the plates. Thomas is always tagging along with the big boys. They all started hitting a tree with sticks at one point and he picked up a stick and joined right in.
We enjoyed our church Trunk or Treat as Old McDonald and his farm. Thomas is a duck and Russell is a chicken-they ended up looking quite similar. Russell chose his costume and I chose Thomas'.
Ricardo constructed this awesome barn for our trunk or treat.
And this one caught right on to getting free candy and loved every minute of it.
And we won 2nd place in our chilli cook-off competition, so we were pleased!
Russell wanted a Minion pumpkin this year (one of his current loves). He claims to speak Minionese.
Happy fall!
It's so funny to see you hanging with Tams until I remember you guys were roommates. Also, you guys have great ideas for trunk or treat. We totally stole your idea from last year and it was a hit!
