Florida Winter

2017 has been fun for us so far. We kicked it off by celebrating this little guy's 1st birthday! He decided to take his first steps on the eve of his birthday and now he is trying to learn how to run. He is a sweetheart and so fun to have in our family. He was pretty skeptical of his birthday cake, but Russell happily ate extra for him.

We've enjoyed our first Florida winter in awhile. We have had a super mild winter even for Florida and have already made it to our neighborhood pool to swim (well Russell did, not me). Sometimes we still play inside though:

We went on a camping trip with Ricardo's family for one night. It was a bit rough with Thomas at nighttime, but Russell had a great time with his cousins and it was perfect weather.

 We've gotten to spend some time with both sets of grandparents recently, which has been fun. Both of these boys LOVE sand.

We met Ricardo at the beach after work for Valentine's Day. Hard to get a good picture of Thomas because, well, sand. Russell was also too busy for a photo-op.

Brothers that read together..

Russell was teaching school, Thomas was a good student.

Russell is obsessed with costumes/playing pretend. Whenever he reads a book or watches TV he has to immediately act it out with us. He is very particular about what he's wearing because the color determines what character he will be that day. Watch out if you want him to wear a red shirt and he doesn't want to be mickey mouse that day. It's such a fun stage though. We made an Abraham Lincoln hat for President's Day. He wanted to spice it up with sunglasses though.

 My parents came up this past weekend so my dad and I could run a 15K together. It's a HUGE race and was a lot of fun. We ran through some pretty neighborhoods and people were giving out food and drinks left and right. 

They had kids races and Russell was SO excited leading up to it, but on race day he ran like he was in slow motion haha. Thomas didn't move a single step in his heat because he was too distracted by the cones on the ground. Lots of fun to watch and they both got a T-shirt and a medal!
