During the second week of May we had a bunch of family come stay with us for Ricardo's graduation/Thomas' baby blessing, which was a lot of fun. Prior to all of these festivities, I was spoiled for Mother's Day with delicious homemade breakfast and dinner, cheesecake, and handmade kitchen hot pads with my two little boys' hand and footprints. Ricardo is the best.
Graduates with kids were encouraged to bring their kids with them when they accepted their diploma. Russell was not thrilled about walking across the stage when I brought him up there, but at least Thomas was good. Overall they were both pretty good throughout the 2 hour ceremony. Even my dad said it was a little long. :) We were so glad Ricardo's childhood friend Luis was able to join us as well and he took some great pictures for us! We all enjoyed dinner downtown afterwards.
It was quite surreal to be celebrating Ricardo's' graduation from dental school. I may or may not have teared up when the graduates walked in. This has been something we've been working for since we were first married, starting with studying for the DAT together, to all the applications and interviews, and then all the craziness of balancing school, work, and kids over the past 4 years of dental school. In the end it's bittersweet to be done because it really has been such a great chapter of our lives. We're so glad we ended up here in Philadelphia and at Temple. It has been the perfect place for us. Congratulations Dr. Fontoura!
The next day was Russell's birthday party. He turned 3 earlier in the week and on his actual birthday spent most of the day playing with his new train set. I'm not sure who loves it more though, Russell or Ricardo. For his birthday party we had a BBQ at a local park and were joined by lots of his friends. This was the first year we've thrown him a party and it was a lot of fun to see how excited he was. Ricardo's mom made him a great cake and he had a blast opening gifts and playing with all his friends.
On Sunday we were able to have Thomas blessed by Ricardo at our church. It was a very special blessing and we were joined by my sister and her family too. Thomas is such a sweet baby and we are loving watching him grow.
After graduation and our trip to Utah we enjoyed some good times in PA before moving to Florida for Ricardo's job. We were sad to leave Philly, it has been such a great chapter in our lives, but we've had a really warm welcome in Jacksonville so far and we are enjoying finishing out the summer here in Florida and being closer to family.
Ricardo did a triathlon in Philly and is looking forward to doing more!
It's so fun to see these boys starting to become friends
We miss living close to these cousins!
Congrats!!! Thomas looks just like Russell, just a little thicker :)
