This summer has been sooo busy! Highlights after our Florida trip included:
Trip to DC for our nephew's birthday and we got to meet our newest nephew (#4 for my sister) who was just one month old when we met him. Russell is obsessed with babies and had so much fun seeing him. No pictures from that trip, whoops!
Camping Trip to the Poconos with our dental school friends. We had a great time hiking the beautiful waterfall trails there. It is so beautiful. Russell loved camping and was so excited to be sleeping in a tent. He did get pretty tired out from all the fun and fell asleep on our hike so poor Ricardo had to carry him for about an hour. He definitely got his workout in that weekend. We all took turns cooking meals for the group which made things pretty easy and we had fun playing games at night after the kids went to bed. The boys are already planning the next camping trip.
Soon after that camping trip I went to girls camp for a few days with the young women (12-18) from our church. It was fun but after all that camping I did appreciate showering/my own bed a little bit more!
Russell and I went to Sesame Place for the first time thanks to our friends with season passes (thanks Nichole!). Russell went on a ton of little rides and especially loved the lazy river and all the water activities. It was a lot of fun. In the past he has always hated the carousel and after he went on other rides I tried to get him to go on the carousel there but he still wasn't having it. Such a random fear. :) Overall it was a great day!
At the beginning of August we headed down to DC again to see my family. My little sister just came home from her mission for our church to Germany and she drove up from Florida with my parents and my grandma. My brother also flew in from Utah so it was a big reunion! My older sister planned a ton of fun stuff to do and we also just enjoyed chatting and spending time together. It's not too often that all of us siblings get together. Fun parts of that trip included:
Attending my brother in law's summer work BBQ which included endless amounts of food, multiple bounce houses, mini golf, etc. It's a huge event. There was also face painting. Russell's older cousins all got their faces painted so he wanted to do it too. I didn't think he would actually sit through it but he actually did really well and sat super still. He wanted to be Daniel Tiger and he was soo excited to see himself as a tiger. We kept it on the whole rest of the day and he loved it. That night we went to a minor league baseball game and had a lot of fun there too. We had great seats and Russell loved the atmosphere and sat through the whole thing.
Gotta love his cousin's serious expression in the background
Enjoying time with Grandpa
Little brother!
Playing with Aunt Cass and baby Carter. He got him to smile and was so excited.
It's harder to get him to smile for pictures these days but he was having a great time!
On Sunday we went to church for the blessing of my sister's baby and after lunch we took some family pictures. It was pretty tough to get all the kids to cooperate so we'll see how the pictures turn out!
Post family photo fun at the park:
On Monday we went to Annapolis MD which was also a lot of fun. It's a beautiful city and we enjoyed a fascinating tour of the naval academy and Russell especially liked going on a boat ride. We would love to go back again sometime. We headed home from there because we needed to come home to work and school but my family followed us home later in the week and stayed at our house for a few days. We went to Valley Forge, Washington Crossing PA (where Washingtown crossed the Delaware River), and the Please Touch Museum. We also had a picnic with some cousins who live downtown and other cousins who were visiting from Utah. Russell loved having so much excitement at our house and has been asking for his cousins ever since they went home.
Just checking out the cannons at the naval academy

The dorms at the naval academy. Ricardo was so impressed by the tour he is now convinced Russell should attend.

Love the Daniel Tiger! I can't believe how old Russell is starting to look! He's looking less and less like a baby and more and more like a little boy.
