Russell's birthday and the cousins come to town

May was been a fun-filled month. First and most importantly, Russell turned 2! It's cliche, but hard to believe our baby is two years old. His actual birthday was on a Monday so we celebrated over the weekend by taking him to our favorite park on Saturday and playing/having a picnic. Sunday was Mother's Day and we did cake and presents after church. It was so fun that he actually somewhat understood the birthday concept this year. He loved the Happy Birthday song and kept asking us to sing to him again and again and he would try to sing it for a few days afterward. Even now he is still talking about birthdays. The other day he said "My birthday coming up on Sunday." Ha, I don't know where he got that one from. He didn't love his birthday cake, which was another delicious cheesecake make for me for Mother's Day by Ricardo. He was a little scared to try it so he just blew out the candles and ate a mango instead (silly boy). We love our sweet boy who is changing every day, talking constantly, and always surprising us with the things he says and remembers! He is always paying attention. The best thing is hearing him say "I love YOU so much."

The park for his birthday. We didn't get too many great pictures because he was more interested in playing than posing.

Family Mother's Day/Russell's birthday picture. Love him in his little suit.

That's the closest he got to eating the cheesecake. He missed out, it was delicious! Ricardo spoiled me for mother's day as usual, with a delicious homemade meal, dessert, and new shoes.

We had a great Memorial Day this year! I wasn't working and Ricardo didn't have school, which was great! In the morning we went on a hike at a local stake park, which was beautiful. We went there once when Russell was a baby and it was fun to go back and reminisce. We saw some people riding horses and Russell was so excited to see live horses for the first time. We came home and had a BBQ and then spent a lot of time enjoying our backyard. The backyard was totally overgrown when we moved in and over the winter some trees fell down too, so Ricardo has been working hard to clean everything up in his spare time. It's so nice to hang out back there now. We had the perfect relaxing day.

The last week of May Ricardo's parents drove up from Florida to come visit us, along with 4 of our nieces and nephews, ages 4-11. They stayed for about 5 days and it was a little crazy having 6 extra people in our small house, but it was fun. The first day they were there we all went to Amish country, which was a big hit with everyone. Luckily we had some plans in mind thanks to the all the planning my mom did 2 summers ago when we went with her. We did a tour of an Amish house, which was really interesting, and the kids also went on a buggy ride. Ricardo has a good friend from Florida who lives in Delaware right now, and he came with us. It was great to have another adult to help with all the kids and he also brought his camera and took same great family pictures. Thanks Luis!

Russell had a blast playing with his cousins and Ricardo and I got to enjoy a date night since we had a babysitter. We went to a great Thai restaurant near our house. During their visit we also celebrated Lucy's birthday, which of course made Russell want it to be his birthday again. This might be the year to start celebrating half birthdays for him. :)

The petting zoo was a huge hit. Russell even participated, which was shocking. He generally only likes animals from a distance. Peer pressure I guess.

Very blurry but here's everyone at the Amish schoolhouse.
