Spring has sprung!

Wow, I am so behind on blogging! The last few months have been busy, as always, but also fun! In February Ricardo went to Boston for his last conference for ASDA as the district trustee. He had mixed feelings about it, but he's still involved with ASDA on a subcommittee and he hasn't had to travel since February so that's been a nice change. In March we went to DC to visit my sister and Russell's cousins before they welcome a new baby in a few weeks! Ricardo's parents also came to visit in March/April and that was great, as always. Russell started using a lot more Portuguese words after that, which is really exciting. It's really cool to see him understand that there can be two words for the same thing.

Ricardo took his last big round of finals in April! This summer he has just a few classes and after that he will just be working in the clinic for the rest of his dental school career. 1 year left! So exciting/surreal to be on the home stretch. He is doing great in school and really loves dentistry. As for me, I stay busy working and hanging out with Russell-really can't complain. Life is wonderful.

We definitely had a cold winter so we were cooped up inside for awhile. Russell was obsessed with this hat Ricardo's mom gave him and he wanted to wear it 24.7 during the winter.

Snow day! Ricardo got to stay home from school with us!

Being stuck inside led to more curiosity about things he had never seen. He figured out that dragging this little chair around gave him access to all kinds of messy projects, like emptying boxes of toothpicks, unraveling aluminum foil,etc...

Russell wasn't too sure about the snow. He thought it was interesting at first but he got cold pretty quickly most days. We did make some little snowmen, which he liked.

As soon as it started warming up, he was begging to go outside. Lately we have been spending all day outside and come in only for meals and naps basically. He is in heaven.

Ricardo's mom was here for Easter. We had an egg hunt with some friends from church on the Friday before. Russell was so excited to open his first egg and find candy inside that he just sat down and starting eating and didn't really care about finding more eggs. Ricardo definitely spent more time brushing Russell's teeth that night because he was horrified at the amount of candy he ate. Poor boy was sick the rest of the weekend but he did enjoy coloring eggs with us on Sunday night.

Every day he asks to go to the park. He still hates the swings and loves the slides.

This past weekend we went to NYC for the day on Saturday. We had a great time! We drove up to Staten Island and took the ferry to the city. Russell liked seeing the boats.
He likes having a cape lately. Excuse the polka dots, they aren't very boy-ish, but we left our house early and that's the first thing I grabbed.

We took the subway and he hated it at first. He kept covering up his ears and complaining about the noise. He got used to it after the day went on though.

In the left corner of this picture you can see the NYC LDS temple. We met some friends there and took turns babysitting so we could attend the temple. It is so beautiful and so quiet inside, which is crazy considering where it is! We are hoping the Philadelphia temple will be done soon!

We ate breakfast at a little farmer's market near the temple and Lincoln Center.

Central Park is just a few blocks away so we took the kids there while we babysat. They had the best time running around.

We then headed down to Chinatown for a late lunch/early dinner and went to an awesome hole in the wall authentic dumpling place recommended by our friends we were with. It was soooo good and so cheap. We also enjoyed Chinese ice cream. The last thing we did was go see the 9/11 memorial which was quite impresive.

Such a fun day, we are already planning our next trip to New York!

Warm weather is so nice..we played with the hose today and Russell loved it. He is already getting so tan-he will fit right in when we head to Florida next month.

He looks big, right? He will be 2 next week! We can't believe it. Stop growing, little one.
