Since my last post, we have been adjusting to life in the big city! Ricardo officially started school and is really enjoying it so far. His favorite part of school is making teeth out of wax, but he's enjoying his other classes too. So far he hasn't been too stressed out and we've been able to spend some time together, which is always nice! He also has been serving as the ward mission leader in our ward, so he is enjoying working with the missionaries, who seem to be getting younger and younger! Or maybe I'm just getting older...
I've been bad about taking pictures this month, but we have enjoyed doing a few fun things together! The first weekend in September we drove up to Washington D.C. to go to the temple, which was really cool. The D.C. temple is HUGE and so pretty. On our way home we stopped by Ricardo's good friend John's house for lunch. The commute to the temple is about 2.5 hours, which we think is a big improvement compared to our previous 4 hours from Miami to Orlando!
We also had fun this month attending a ward BBQ and a school BBQ for Ricardo. Seems like everyone is trying to get in their outdoor activities while the weather holds up. It is really starting to get cold for us! The high today was 66, which we consider to be winter weather. We're trying out some clothes we haven't seen in quite awhile!
Last Monday was Constitution Day. I was able to go to the National Constitution Center here in Philadelphia with some friends from church to check it out for FREE! It usually costs money to go. We were able to see lots of Constitution memorabilia, a live performance, and go into a room with life-size statues of all of the signers of the famous document. Here I am with Benjamin Franklin:
As for me? I spent the first 10 days after graduation studying for my national board exam called the PANCE. Luckily it wasn't too painful and I am now a licensed Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the state of Pennsylvania. At the beginning of September I also accepted a job offer at Albert Einstein Medical Center. This is the hospital where I did my last rotation as a PA student when we first moved here. I really like the hospital and the people that I met as a student and I am looking forward to my first job as a real PA. My role is kind of confusing, but basically I will be doing Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine. Unfortunately, the licensure/hospital approval process takes a long time! Hopefully I will be starting in a few weeks if everything goes as planned! Lately I have been spending my time catching up on reading, studying Portuguese, studying sign language, and hanging out with some new friends. I have been trying to enjoy my mini vacation, but really, I enjoy being busy and it's not as fun to have a vacation when your husband is at school all day! I'm ready to work!

I will try to be better at taking pictures in October! Life is good and we are enjoying this new phase of our lives!
