Ft. Lauderdale Winter

I feel like a broken record, but..I know it's been awhile since I've posted! Life has just been too good to find the time to write about it! Good excuse, huh? Considering the fact that tomorrow is the last day of February (and my half birthday, to all of you who care), I shall recap our "winter" for you.

November: We had two Thanksgiving dinners, which was awesome! At Ricardo's house it was more like a Thanksgiving dessert party, but I'm always okay with that. We loved it.

December: Ricardo turned 24! Like the crazy, non-sugar loving person he is, he didn't want a cake. So he blew out his candle on a baked potato. Sometimes I am concerned about him. :)

Christmas was also great. We had so much fun seeing my brother and sister and her family. We actually took family pictures which turned out great! I will post those when I get copies from my parents. Her daughters are so cute, we loved hanging out with them. We also had a great time at Ricardo's house. Never a dull moment around there, they set the backyard on fire on Christmas day. Luckily, no one was hurt and there wasn't too much damage done. Scary, though! We had fun playing with the kids, as always, and Ricardo's sister had her baby a few days after we left! We're so excited to have baby Eliza as part of the family! Also, Ricardo's brother and his wife announced that they were having another baby, due in August. Yay!

It was nice to have a few weeks off from school and relax a little. One night we went to downtown Ft. Lauderdale to look at Christmas lights. We were walking down this really fancy street called Los Olas Blvd and we just kept walking by expensive restaurants that smelled delicious, so we decided to come home and make a steak dinner for ourselves. Living so close to Ricardo's parents has ensured that we always have meat in our freezer, courtesy of their farm. Here's us enjoying our gourmet meal:

And apparently all we really care about around here is food. We got a deep fryer from my parents for Christmas and we didn't hesitate to put it to use. Our favorites so far: deep fried jalapenos, deep fried cauliflower (sounds gross, but it's actually delicious!), and of course, good old-fashioned french fries. Our next project: deep fried ice cream!

In January we found out that there is a library just a few minutes from our house. It's like 60 years old and is so cute. Right behind it is a fun little park. Once we discovered it, we had to go back for a picnic! Yes, that's right, we have picnics in January around here. We love Florida!

February has seriously flown by. For Valentine's day we made cheese fondue. That's what
we did last year and it has become a fun little tradition.
The week after Valentine's was our 1.5 year anniversary, so we went out to eat at Buca di Beppo (courtesy of my sister and brother-in-law's Christmas gift card. Thanks guys!). It was fun to go out and crazy to think that so much time has already gone by.
