Happy Veterans Day!

Shockingly enough, I am writing and it is not the end of the semester! I was planning on updating our blog when Christmas break rolled around. However, I have a three-day weekend and no tests until next Friday, so I figured now's as good a time as any.

Life is crazy, but perfect. This semester we've been able to head up to Orlando more often to see our families, which has been really fun. So convenient that our parents are from the same city (kind of). We especially enjoy hanging out with our niece and nephews and are excited to have another niece on the way very soon! Ricardo's sister is due around Christmastime with baby #4!

School is going well for me. It's been more intense this semester than it was in the summer, but in a good way. Sometimes I think about the fact that I'll be on rotations next summer and it freaks me out because I really don't feel like I know enough! But other times I take a step back and notice just how much I have learned. One thing is for sure, it is definitely going by fast!

Ricardo has been busy, as always. The big news for him is that he started a new job this week doing marketing for a handyman company. He is really excited about it and has learned a ton already. Besides working full-time he is finishing up the classes he needs to graduate in the spring. Plus, we are enduring the dental school application process. He had an interview at his dream school, UF, in October, and now we are just waiting. Wish him luck!

Besides work and school, we have been kept very busy with our callings. Our ward is definitely unique, approximately 1/3 from Haiti, 1/3 students, and 1/3 everyone else. Ricardo has been having fun working in the Young Men's program. The majority of the boys are converts without their parents. It's pretty amazing. I have been teaching Sunday School for the 12-15 year olds. Once again, there are a lot of new converts, so it has been a challenging experience to teach these kids a lot of gospel principles for the first time. I have already learned a ton. I have also recently been assigned the job of directing the ward choir for Christmas. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, but people are actually coming to practice, so I think that's a good sign. We shall see!

For Halloween we had the glamorous assignment of chaperoning the Stake youth dance. It was amusing to watch the kids interact and remember what is was like to be them. Plus remember the fact that Ricardo and I used to go to the same youth dances. How crazy.

We have been unbelievably blessed lately and we are so excited for the upcoming holidays!! Pictures to come!

  2. Wow, I didn't know you chaperoned for a dance. How fun was that? Did you get to dance a little? Did you have to dress up? :) Well, thanks for having us again-it was nice without having to chase around the baby. We'll see you Friday.
